Are there trans options????

Hey I got a 2001 e450 bus/van and swapping the gutts out into another ride...This trans has the drum parking brake on the driveshaft.....Is there other trans options for the 7.3?... Did I read some where that a c6 will work or was that my pain meds playing tricks on me....One more thing,can the drum brake setup be removed....Is the tailshaft and housing different? Thanks MATT

The E450/E550 used the drum parking brake on the back of the transmission. It can be removed, an a regular tail shaft housing installed. You might have to change the tail shaft too, though. If you are going to do an engine/trans swap, you might find it easier to just get a new shorter drive shaft made that would accommodate the funky parking brake. Even if you don't use the drum parking brake, just leave it in place and use the ordinary parking brake.

I don't think a c6 would bolt up, and even if it did, I doubt that it would hold up to the torque that a diesel makes.
