4r100 went bang and now no gears. HELP!

First some back ground on tranny. It was rebuilt about 30,000 miles ago and has trans go tugger kit and aftermarket convertor. So today a replaced my fuel pump and on the test drive I was driving it harder than normal but not WOT. I pulled out and as it shifted into third gear it made a loud bang and acts like it in neutral in every gear. The bang was loud and hard and the revs jumped up. It does nothing in any forward gear or reverse. Could it have broke the input shaft or could the convertor have gone out. Thanks for any help.

does sound like an input shaft..
BUT
this is EXACTLY how my tranny went, except i had some converter problems leading up to the bang, and it wasnt the shaft

Whats the fluid color like?
Can you feel the slightlest little grab in forward or reverse?
Check the pan/plug to see how many little fuzzies are on it

The fluid looks brand new. It just had a fluid and filter change about 5k ago. It looks good and doesn't smell bad. And no it doesn't try to grab any gear at all. It has never gave me any signs of problems, no slipping or anything and with the 6.0 cooler it never got hot.

see thats how mine was besides my little converter chatter. didnt get hot, no nothing. mine wouldnt grab any gear at all, acted like it was in neutral for most part but you could feel the slightest ever little grab, not enough to move the truck even remotely.

Id check the pan/plug for depris or fuzzies.my plug looked like this, and inside the pan looked like a damn sand box haha

When mine went, whether it was the shaft, converter or tranny i was going to have to pull the tranny so i started with that. My shaft was fine, my converter was locked tighter than a drum (when trying to turn it on a bench) and my tranny was full of fuzzies so i replaced the whole thing assuming that my converter let go and took my tranny with it

your application sounds very much like it could be the shaft but you'll have to pull to check any/ all of those

My old tranny also had a transgo/tugger and an after market converter FWIW. i have no idea where a valve body would play in to this. when things go bang i dont usually think the VB is the culprit
but i am by no means a tranny guy so take my word with a grain of salt

Got it apart today, it broke the intermediate shaft. I robbed one out of another
4r100 I had laying here and put it back together.
