2000 F250 4R100 7.3

I recently put a used 4r100 with 115k on it in my truck about 4-5 months and about 8k miles ago. Just today the truck seemed like it down shifted, or fell out of gear. The rpm's soared to about 2500. I was going in between 50-60mph. I let it down shift, and got back up to speed just fine. Didn't notice any problems until after it was parked for a few hours, got back in, drove about ten minutes, and at about 30-40mph rpm's soared, seemed like it downshifted or fell out of gear and then I noticed my overdrive light blinking.

I have searched this awesome site and have come up with speed sensor issue, shifting solenoid, vss sensor, and a few others. Anyone have the same problem that narrowed it down? Thanks in andvance.

Also, it is 4x4, automatic, and I have a bully dog 3 stage chip, dial adjust under the dash on it. Always set at the second stage, which is +75 horse.

Figured out that my chip went bad. It had been working, and then not working for the past few days. Took it off, and was shifting fine. About a day ago, I started blowing my 4x4 Solenoid fuse, which is also my back-up lamp fuse, brake shift interlock, DRL Relay Coil, Speed control module, trailer tow back-up lamp relay coil, vacuum pump motor fuse. It is location 28, 10A fuse under the kick plate. I unplugged my 4x4 solenoid hoping this was the cause of the blown fuse, but it keeps blowing. Usually when the back up lights come on in reverse.

I am now chugging before shifts. I started it cold this morning, about 25 outside, it was snowing a little here in Southeast Idaho. Let it warm up about a minute(not long enough, I usually let it warm up longer) it wasn't plugged in either. At about 35 mph I lost all power, and it eventually died.

I put it in neutral, and it cranked and cranked a few times, but then started. I pulled into a gas station, let it idle about 5 minutes, and put some diesel 911 in it. I thought maybe it gelled up, but didn't think it was cold enough. Got in and drove it about 5 miles and was just fine. Has been the rest of the day as well.

My battery light is also flashing randomly. Usually in park, or in reverse. I put an alternator in it a year ago, and two new batteries in shortly after.

My starter fuse also keeps blowing. I have replaced the starter itself, and the solenoid on top of the motor.

I realize this post could go under several categories. I am at a loss. I don't know what the heck is going on. To me, it sounds electrical, but I have no idea. Any input from ANYONE would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance.

A new update:

As I'm driving down the road tonight, I hit a bump over a bridge, and it fell out of gear. I slowed down, let off the throttle, and felt it go back into gear. Happened about 4-5 more times in my half hour trip, all at different speeds and times. Sometimes it won't go back into gear until I come to a complete stop. No rhyme or reason. Checked the fluid earlier in the week, level and color/smell were all fine. I'm at a loss. ObdII is not throwing any codes. Any ideas? No check engine or flashing overdrive light.

I disconnected battery cables tonight to reset computer, took it for a drive, and about 5-6 miles down the road the battery light came and went, then the od light flashed at me.

I also checked the 42 point wiring harness under the air intake on the driver's side valve cover for irritation, but it was fine.

Looks like I will be finding a high end scanner soon. More updates to come.

Auto enginuity is your only option besides the snap-on at 5+ times the price
