Full synthetic Mercon 5 is what you are supposed to replace it with.

The respond nicely to the high end fluids ( Amsoil or Redline)

I'm running Mercon V in my just swapped ZF. I have read a lot of different threads on various forums, and I may drain out a couple of quarts to add some synchromax. A lot of guys have reported much quieter gearboxes with the addition.

I say if you have no qualms about the gear noise just throw Mercon back in it.
