Front seal

Hey guys got my truck stuck in the driveway a few weeks ago. Long story short I pushed the front seal out of the Trans.

Shop doing the work says that since I pushed the front seal out, a new one won't hold unless I do a rebuild to the tune of $1600. I trust the shop and they farm out the Trans build so I do t think he is trying to rip me off, but searching here I've read where the front seal seems to be a somewhat common thing. Any thoughts?

i ran into the same problem kinda with my front seal leaking when she got hot
i never heard of one popping out but wouldn't surprise me, ive heard of a lot of them leaking after a while

i talk to my mechanic
but he said he could fix the leak for $800 or rebuild the whole thing for $1500
either way he was gunna drop the tranny

i said **** it lets just have it rebuilt,
my mechanic said he was going to make this thing be able to go threw anything

so he put in a
triple clutch torque converter
new front pump with seal
Trans-Go shift kit
HD Rebuilt kit
new filter and fluids
drilled the outlet holes bigger so the fluid flow through to get more fluid flowing
and new lines bigger to the transmission cooler
deleted the Inline Magnetic Automatic Filter so its just straight lines to the cooler
i guess i needed a new 1st gear and 4th gear, he said they were getting a little dark,
he showed them to me and they were getting pretty dark brown

but now that she's fix its like a whole new truck!!!! i can haul *** every where and it plants the power down really nice!!! takes off a lot smoother and faster!!
no more leaking!!! i love it, after everything it ended up costing me $1750 with a 1 year warranty or 12,000 miles

id see what your shop is going to all have done it, the shop i go to the labor rate are 60 bucks an hour so that's why i think mine was such a great deal

If its going to be torn down and in the floor you might as well rebuild it.

That's exactly what i did, was well worth it!!
i went out in the sand dunes pushed it pretty hard and it took like a champ,
my old tranny when i got hot it felt sluggish but this rebuilt one is strong and smooth the whole way

but if moneys the issue you gotta do what you gotta do, but either ways you going to end up dropping it
