autometer trans gauge

my gauge moves a little bit when i turn the key on? and it reads 40-50 degrees hotter than what it really is,any clue to what it could be? i have it grounded to the tranny pan if that matters.

Are your gauges electric or mechanical?

i have a temp gun and i put it on all the tranny lines,pan,cooler and everything and the hottest i found was 170 and the gauge reads 210? my buddys truck has the same gauge and he said his gauge needle does not move at all when he turns the key on?
