Unhappy Wellllllll E4OD!!

hey everyone

i have the 95 f250 xl 7.3 with an E4OD

i have the typical problem which no one knows the answer to. maybe you do

my O/D light flashes and the trans just slips and doesnt engage into gear and they it finally bangs into gear.

if i shut the truck down and let it sit for a few it will be okay.
when this isnt happening the trans is perfect and shifts fine
i had it flushed, new filter, and E pack.

i was talking to BD diesel and they said the friction pad on the torque converter may have separtated from the torque converter drum and is getting caught and binds and that is what is causin the trans to slip then when i accelerate it will over come the binding and bang into gear cause of the increases fluid pressure
any input??

You can try replacing your converter and if that doesn't fix it you will need a trans.

Before you throw parts at it, have a good trans shop pull the codes.

Should be the same diagnostic port used to pull engine codes. Under the dash, passengers side, you can see it from either seat.

Being a 95, it may NOT be fully ODBII. You'll need to have a shop check it out.

Wait is your trans just not engaging into drive or anything after you drive it awhile? When mine heats up to around 180f I lose all drive gears but remain with reverse. But when my tranny cools down I regain them slowly. During that process i can slowly feel them kick into gear. But when its fully down they go fine. I just add ATF and it works fine. Im upgrading my cooler soon.
