Question ZFS547 Syncro problems

I just bought a '96 1 ton 5spd and the 2nd gear syncro is out, and 3rd n 4th are goin out. If i double clutch 3rd & 4th downshift ok but i have to double clutch & match revs to downshift into 2nd with no grind.

Anyhow, I don't know much about trannys. I found a few places that sell all the parts and rebuild kits etc. Im comfortable with heavy engine work & such, but ive never done a tranny. I dont know what to look for once i got in there to know if more parts need to be replaced. I've found a few rebuilds for $1000 but i dont wanna fork over the money. Anyone know of any good reference material for rebuilding these trannys or have any advice.

Thanks

The shop manual will be your best bet. My synchro going into overdrive is bad and needs replaced. I was told that I might as well have the tranny rebuilt while their in that far.

That's true, just an extra few hundred in parts that I don't have now. I think the gears are around $130 a pop.

I guess my next question is, will it hurt anything if I keep driving as is until I have the money, or somethin worse happens? lol
