Tranny question
Tuesday I was pulling 8,000#'s at 70mph tanny temp was 165. Then all of a sudden tranny starts to slip rpm was jumping all over and temps rose to 235 before I could get off the highway. I recently installed a Banks 6-gun chip but it was on the stock setting. It would not shift into overdrive for the rest of the way home 470 miles. I took it to a tranny shop and they said it shifted fine for them and nothing was wrong with it (no codes except for the ones from pulling the chip out). I get it back and it barely shifts into overdrive (can't feel any shift), turn on the power and it won't shift into od at all. I think it is time for a rebuild, what do you guys think?

Take it to a better tranny shop.

That's the plan. The Banks system ain't that powerful only 63 hp 120 ft. lbs of torque.

True but even that without properly tuning the tranny can cause damage.

is this the first time you ever pull this much or do you pull it often?
it might have just over heated? did you check your trans fluid? |

Pull more than that fairly frequently. It didn't overheat until after it wouldn't shift into od. Truck was on stock setting when this happened. Trans fluid was fresh and full and didn't even smell burnt afterwards. Trans shop put in new filter and fluid and it still shifts bad. I'm having another shop drive it on Monday and I will probably have them rebuild it.

Yeah I hear you. It has only been on the truck for 50 miles or so. The shop I'm going to take it to did my brothers a couple of years ago and he hasn't had a problem yet. So i guess we will see.
