Tranny and TC questions?

Ive got a 99 7.3 with the 4r100. This tranny is a 4 speed correct? (including overdrive) my question is i feel 4 "shifts" so can anyone help me out as to when i should feel my torque converter lock up? My tranny is a little built up but i want to get a BTS. I would just like to know a little more about mine for now. Also, when i do 4wd launches the tranny will like go in and out then back into 3rd but be at like 1100-1200 rpms, but im not sure if that is the torque converter not sure to lock or not? the OD light does flash but once i shut the truck off and restart it the tranny shifts smooth again. Sorry for the long post but i just can't seem to understand this transmission yet thanks guys

Where abouts in the mph frame do you feel this? i know it might be a little different because you have 35s. Driving normally does it lock right before over drive or after shifting second?

Factory locks TC between 3rd and 4th. Feels just like a gear shift.
