Weird tranny shifting & throttle probs

On occasion my throttle will not respond. I get a check engine light when I push down on the throttle. I then release the throttle for a sec. and the light will go out and then I have full throttle response. I've noticed the tranny starting to shift oddly too. It seems to shift much quicker than normal. If I turn off the truck and sit for a sec. and then turn it on again it seems to act normal for a time before reverting back to the odd shifting. It also seems to correlate with the throttle problem. I can't find any code errors in the system either. Can anyone shed some light on this? Do I need my computer reprogrammed? Thanks.

An answer to my own question about 8 years later. I had to replace the throttle positioning sensor which, unfortunately, must be sold with the whole assembly. I was fortunate, however, to have a friend that owns a body shop and I was able to purchase the part at his cost which was around $250 otherwise it would have cost me around $450. After I replaced that part all was good.
