Manual Tranny Release Fork?

What pulls the return fork back when you let off the clutch pedal? Old mechanical systems used a spring, as well as some hyd. systems. I just didn't see anything like that on mine. I stopped by the local dealer hoping to look at a parts diagram but after the last time I was there they were not willing to be too helpful. My mustang buddy says nothing pulls his back, it just "kinda floats back".
