4r100 wouldent shift 2nd full throttle

Went to race a dodge the other day, it was really hot outside. Left the line around 10psi launch and got a jump on the dodge but when it came time to shift to 2nd the truck seemed like it went to neutral I let off the throttle and it shifted.

Could it be from the heat? Trans temps were at 155*. I bought the truck used and the owner before said it has a beefed up trans with a billit converter.
Can this be the valve body, or sound internal?
I got on the truck in the morning today and it shifted fine.

mine does this occasionally i think its the torque converter not unlocking, but i could be wrong.

Sounds like the tq converter. But could just be worn parts in the trans. Mine did that before I built it.

I don't have the extra cash for a trans right now, have a 5month old baby. I guess I'll have to take it easy on the truck and drive normal!

Mine did that. Then I pushed it too hard and blew it. I know the center support being loose can cause this (or so I was told [i also had slipping in 3rd and 4th when floored for a good 5 miles or so]).

So you might be able to retorque the center support and it might help.

Checked the code today it it had the typical p1211, p478, and a new code that came on is p720.
Can that 720 speed sensor code cause this issue with shifting out of first? I'm going to order a new ford trans filter to replace before I drop the pan to check the center support bolts.
Also it shifts really soft, think if I had my ts chip sent out if they firmed up the shifts it would get it into gear?

Did you do any work to the valve body recent?
How many miles are on the trans.

but if you're not getting the 2-3 upshift, might look at this video (sadly with bad audio) for the 4r100 rebuild.
Could have been a stuck valve.
