New Trans with Less Power

I have my 2002 F-550 with 250k. I recently took it to have the trans replaced. I talked with Ford and they told me based on my vin that the trans I have is a limited production trans. Only offered in late 01 to early 03. I had a certified shop make the swap. Now I have no pulling power when I have my trailer hooked up. I used to be able to pull 20k with no problem. Now it has a hard time keeping up with only 7k behind it. It shifts into overdrive around 35-40 mph. When going up hill at 60-70 it will slow all the way to 40 before down shifting. I am into the accelerator like 80 percent and nothing unless I hammer it to the floor. This did not happen before. It would maintain speed and also accelerate up hill even with a load behind it. I am going to take it back into the shop for them to take a look but would like some ammo to take with me. Does anyone have any advice or knowledge about this issue? Engine is very strong. Thanks in advance.

No such thing as a limited production auto trans.

X2 I think they gave you bad OEM trans tuning from a F250 or something.

I'm not sure of a F550, but those shifting characteristics are like a 250/350.

Based on Ford parts department, my trans is a 4r100. Just got off the phone with a different guy from Ford and he states that it comes in 250-550 from early 90's till early 03'. Don't know where the other guy got his info on being a different trans. He agreed on it might have been set up for a 250 or 350. I would have to check the numbers on it and have to have it checked. Gonna take it back to shop next week.

We's done F550 with BTS trans 38r and stage's 1's and TW tunes...ran great so it isn't a problem. F250-350-450-550....shouldn't make a difference.

Took the truck off the road for all of last year. Just put it back on the end of Dec. Truck still pulls bad. Before taking it off the road it had trans overheat 3 times over the winter. Temps below 35 deg outside. Ford and shop who installed it still insist nothing wrong with it. Warranty is running out and I don't want to get stuck with this crap trans. Any more thoughts?

Time to contact a lawyer and if your state has a bureau of automotive repairs start a claim.
