local 4R100 tranny rebuild

I haven't been around here too long but I can already tell that most everyone is going to say "buy a BTS and be done with it" That's great and I would love to but my financial situation simply wont allow it right now. Have a baby on the way, currently in escrow on a house, and my wife's Subaru is in the shop getting the trans rebuilt as we speak. SO, that being said, if I were to get a simple rebuild through a local shop what "must haves" would you recommend I have them throw in? better TC? better Valve body? anything else? A local guy comes highly recommended and will build to suit..and even better I can source it through a local diesel shop and use no interest 12 month payments...So, what would you guys recommend as a must to build a reliable trans that's not a BTS or JW?....and doesn't require a $1200 TC! Any input much appreciated! It's the 4R100 out of a 2001 that I'm assuming has that pesky diode problem.

Is that including labor? Because I currently have no access to a shop/tools/time to do a trans install on my own.

Suncoast has a "performance" rebuild kit that looks like it comes complete with everything - updated frictions and steels, additional friction/steels, tugger shift kit, and updated/upgraded misc parts as well.

Its around $500 I think but your trans shop may be able to get it at a reduced cost to save you money. Then just buy an upgraded Torque Converter and she should hold some decent power or just be more reliable than the stock one.

Otherwise, any decent transmission shop will know to add extra clutches, do a shift kit, and upgrade the torque converter on a rebuild.
