Transmission problems. Torque convertor ?

Today I was pulling trailer down the road speeds of 45 to 55.

I was watching my tranny temp slowly rise all the way to 220 degrees I then pulled over and let it cool.

I started traveling again and my overdrive light started flashing I read the codes and I got PO741 - (TCC System Performance Torque Converter Slip Greater Than Expected).

So what does this mean ? I need a new torque convertor ?

It was slipping because of tranny temps ?

Why was the transmission getting so hot?

Thanks for the help!
Zach

Could have been getting hot due to unlocked TC, which only you can answer if it was or not.
Maybe the bypass is stuck and not putting fluid to the cooler.

Your code indicates that it was trying to lock but couldn't. That could be anything from a weak pump, clogged line, too much power, tired TC or even a bad tune. Most likely something is giving out in your transmission. Start saving your pennies.

How can I find out what the problem is and get it fixed

I can't afford to have this keep overheating and having to stop on the road to let it cool

Take it to a trans shop and have them pull everything apart to inspect it.
