Limp mode while towing

Alright, I have a 2000 f250 7.3 4r100. Yesterday while towing a 2300lbs trailer and an 89 4 door suburban on 39's the trans just gave up on me. It was going great with the empty trailer. On the way home it feels and sounds like the torque converter was locking and unlocking. Then I realized the of light was flashing and no od. So along the way I stopped for a little while and started towing again. Happens again. But this time I was doing 3k at 70mph. Back to flashing od again.

Also, after I took the trailer off I was driving it hard 90mph and it flashed od again.

Finally, this transmission has a banks transcommand shift kit.

Any ideas? I haven't had time to get codes pulled so I can help there much. And the fluid looks the same color as before. Slightly dark. Like its time to change the fluid dark. Nothing majorly bad in color.

Get the codes pulled, everything else is just a guess. If your really lucky it will be something simple like a solenoid but be prepared for a new trans. Also remove the banks junk, it isn't known for helping a trans last.

Aright, Im slacking on getting codes pulled BUT I was towing again with the truck. A small 21' trailer with tractor and tiller. I towed it about 45 miles and was puking fluid from the trans vent (i did get the trans serviced at ford last week so they may have over filled it). The trans was so hot i couldn't touch the dipstick metal. The truck towed fine just couldnt get to 65mph with out reving at 3k. Flashing od light again too. I also drove it on the interstate with no trailer doing 90 and it was fine. Just as soon as the trailer is on I have problems.

Now today i drove the truck with no trailer and it was fine. Drove great no problems what so ever. Dipstick was cool enough to touch and grab without getting burnt.

Waiting to order a good code reader to pull codes but in the meantime any place to get them read cheaply?

O Reilly's said no codes but I don't believe they check CM codes though.
