Shift from Low(1st) to 2nd

Hey guys i have the zf6 and the 1st gear is the granny gear and my truck has 5.13s so i hardly ever use it other than when im getting on a busy on-ramp and flirting the clutch in 2nd for about 2 minutes isnt fun nor is good for it but i have a problem with shifting from low to 2nd, it ALWAYS grinds like im going too fast for it but im only going like 2 mph. 2nd doesnt like to engage unless im pretty much stopped. So basically is this normal or do i have something going on between those gears?
