Tranny Swap - which one?

Along with my possible fuel tank liner issue in another folder I think my tranny may be crapping out on me. No real shifting issues but while towing my 8k 30 ft trailer I had some shuttering going up hills and if I released the gas pedal I could hear some sound that to me sounds like the flywheel or torque converter spinning with a metallic sound.

So if I do find myself considering a tranny swap, I need to know what setup would be best considering that we are planning on buying an 18,000lb 5th wheel unit. Any suggestions based on personal experiences? Thanks.
