How screwed am I?

Hey guys bought my 02 a week and a half ago 02 4x4 7.3 Auto ccsb 165K one owner, love it but f-me.... A few days after I picked it up I noticed the trans would shift from first to second but it would be delayed so to speak but it wouldnt do it all the time. The trans worked fine other than that issue every now and then. Today noticed some slipping all of a sudden and the od light flashing then followed by a cel. I added a couple quarts of fluid to be safe because I cant tell if the damn dipstick is low or not. Didn't slip as bad but still not the greatest and cel and od flashing still there. Is this sounding like the death of my trans or something stupid possibly like a fuse or ? Speedo still works ok.

Have you driven a lately???

something stupid. Remove the coulumn housing to expose the wires from the shifter. You may find a wire freyed. Or it could be the sensor, cant remember where ,but either the trans or on the rearend...

Sounds like its time for a 36pk and bread and water for the next month.... or months... I have a good trans guy coming at me with 1800 to 2500 depending on shift kit and converter but paying him is another issue ha.

Ok so it drove fine today for about 10 miles mostly freeway and shifted fine through all gears. But on the way back home it wouldnt shift into od and then didnt seem like it wanted to shift into 3rd either. Is is something fixable or is it rebuild time?

Rebuild time.
Don't cheap out if you plan on keeping the truck and/or adding power down the road.
Get a high quality billet single disc converter at the least.

PIS 175/80's, Van Turbo with EBPV, BD Billet Wheel
Lots of money spent at RiffRaff
Holley fuel pump, in tank mods, crappy riding leveling kit, DP-F6, 5 Gauges+Edge CS in dash, CB radio in Dash, over 100 goofy little mods
Still pretty slow, just less slow now.
