1st to 2nd miss

I have about 116k miles on my truck and recently the last few days my trans has been missing the shift between 1st to 2nd. If I let off the throttle it shifts and everything else fine. My OD light is flashing. Could anyone think of some possibilities as too what it could be?

broken 2nd gear diode (sprag/oneway clutch). Most professional mechanics won't replace just the sprag because it does a lot of damaage (metal) when it explodes.
