4r100 Difference in gas vs diesel

When I was looking to buy parts truck, A gentleman had a gas burner truck 4x4, and I told him I didn't think that it would match up with the diesel as far as axels and other parts I would need, he told me the only difference in the transmission is the bell housing and the torque converter, can anybody confirm this?

I would think that the valve body might be different as well.
