Im playing around with the idea of adding an auxiliary transmission to my 2wd 2002 Ford F250 CC/SB. I use it as a daily driver and to pull our 32' camper about every other weekend. I found that Gear Vendors offers an under drive/over drive auxiliary with claims of better towing and increased mpg. Im all for increased mpg and being able to pull at 65-70 without running 2500-3000 rpms sounds GREAT!!! Any opinions? http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/ima...ase%5B1%5D.gif

Im running between 2100 & 3000 rpms at between 60 & 65 mph when Im pulling the camper. Ive got the OD turned off when towing so Im in 3rd gear. It feels like it wants to run in OD when Im towing it, but everyone Ive talked to has told me not to run in OD so I havent. Thats why the RPMs are up. Loud and slow

Od is fine to use. Just keep it out of od if it's hunting for gears.
2k is kind of minimum for heavy towing if you wanna stay in your good power band I made my Samsung SGH-I997 send this. |

Thanks for the information! AS I said, Im new to owning a diesel AND a camper. Always used my Jeep Cherokee and a cargo trailer to haul camping stuff, bikes, and the tents, HA! You wouldn't have any recommendations on a chip/programer would you? Ive heard a lot about the multi position DP Tuner. Just making plans for after I do the exhaust and air intake.

The truck doesnt have 106k miles yet. If it were a 5.0 Mustang Id be in my groove with performance mods. This thing I have know idea.

Tony Wildman, Bean's, Swamps, and PHP are some of the more popular custom tuners.
