Overdrive off light...

Okay so my overdrive off light comes on here and there, it doesn't flash and the trans seems to be shifting fine. When I start the truck its on and every once in awhile while driving the light turns on. Any ideas?

the button has a couple of wires leading down the shifter into the steering column near the ignition, and from shifting, the wires have to bend slightly.. over time, they can eventually wear because they bend in the same place every time.... i have had to replace mine once. mine was unable to disengage the overdrive due to the wires actually breaking and losing contact. the button with the wires attached is cheap, like 20 bucks or so if i remember correctly, and very easy to replace. take off the plastic housing around the column, and you will see where the od button plugs in near the ignition... i would think that if it's just the light itself malfunctioning at this time, pretty soon it will stop disengaging the overdrive as well... easy fix, and even easier to inspect the wires for wear....

I'd try replacing the button as said, but if it doesn't work it may be a different problem I'm familiar with. One question I have to ask; when the OD light blinks, is it steady or does it flash spuratically? Like it'll flash 2 or 3 times then stop, & then flash another 2 or 3 times.
