Transmission slow to "catch"
I have a OEM stock tranny that as of a few days ago i noticed when shifting from park to any of my gears it takes about 3 seconds to catch before truck starts to move. I commute 75miles a day all HWY and it never has given me trouble there and it still performs as usual other than this delay to "catch". The tranny filter and fluid were done about 30k miles ago and the fluid still looks great. I dont haul to much, but the occasional bed of building materials. I am very comfortable working on this motor but transmissions are completely foreign to me.. any suggestions or thoughts?

Mine has done this but only after it sits awhile like over night. If I let it sit for just about 30 seconds idling in park, it would shift right into gear but if I start it and pull it right in, it will do as you explained. I changed the filter and it helped a lot!
Other than that, I am in this one to read the comments. |

It has always delayed on a cold start but this is when it warm and been running around all day, that why i am concerned.

yeah I probably would be also.
Do you know someone that can check the pressure? There is a "test port" on the driver side of the trans. It is an 1/8" pipe plug. That is where the gauge would be installed to check. |

You can check it yourself too. Just plumb in a gauge that will read up to at least 200 psi. I think normal pressure is around 125 but not sure. Then the pcm will control that with the changes is driving. I am sure that the pressure spec will probably be for a warm trans idling in park. I don't know what the pressure should actually be though.
A little searching might turn something up or maybe call your ford dealer on tuesday. They might know or find the specs for you. |
