shifting and OD issues

i have a 2000 f250 7.3 it has 225,000 miles . My OD light comes on alot but my truck usually still locks into OD. Today for a short period of time my truck was running though the gears really fast. like almost one gear after another, then i shut my truck off and on my way home it didnt do that but the OD light came on shortly after driving. Sometimes my truck acts fine , no problems at all. Sometimes my reverse doesnt work as well.. when i hit the gas to hard in reverse sometimes its like the truck locks up and just revs w/o budging, but then 2 hrs later it will be fine. then the reverse is fine for another 2 months and it happens again.. its never constant. None of these problems are ever constant its like month on month off stuff and hasnt gotten worse since it started a year ago.. could it be electrical problems somewhere ?? plz help thankyou
