what happened to my tranny?

Ok, so the other day I took my boat out and it was about 95° out. The boat launch was extremely long and steep. I got the boat backed in and pulled the truck and trailer out and loticed I had to give it a lot of gas to move. We went out on the boat for a while and came back in. When I went to pull out of the water the truck would not move unless I put it into 1st gear manually. My trucks an auto. I called a buddy and he picked the truck up on a trailer. We got it back to the shop and I went to show him what it was doing so I put it in drive and it moved fine and has for the past week! Does anyone have a clue what the problem may have been?

Check your fluid level.
some boat launches are steep enough that even if you are a little low (maybe still on the stick) on fluid, it will all shift to the rear of the pan and cause it to pull air. This is only a guess and checking the oil level will help.
