NEED ADVICE ON TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT OPTIONS

I recently made a trip pulling my travel trailer and upon arrival my transmission was dumping fluid from the front. I let it cool and a couple of days later pulled the trailer back home without any leaking. I had the transmission serviced to change out the fluid to make sure the fluid was not burnt. The shop indicated that the t.c. was rattling. I had noticed the rattling but was unsure of the cause. How long will I have before it leaves me walking and is it worth simply replacing the t.c.? If replacing the transmission completely, is the hd factory reman any count? Do not really have the funds for the high dollar units.

I know a guy on the .org that has the HD ford unit, last I checked he had no issues. I just recently went with the ford standard unit, I have had no issues. Both unit have the same 3 year unlimited mileage warranty. $2800 for the standard, $3600 for the HD. Installed out the door. If I pulled a lot I would have got the HD unit. From reading the specifications on the HD unit it has a lot of upgrades.

Keep the one you got. It can be built to take more abuse than you can give it in a van.

TRANSMISSION UPDATE

OKAY,SO I JUST MADE A FOUR HOUR 180 MILE TRIP W/O AN ISSUE WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION THAT HAD SPILLED THE FLUID BEFORE.I CAN HEAR THE T.C. AND NOW THAT IS MY FOCUS.I THINK I HAVE DECIDED TO GO WITH THE STANDARD UNIT AND BE PROACTIVE VERSUS SPENDING 500.00 ON A TOW TO GET IT BACK TO MAY MECHANIC. THANKS FOR THE ADVICE.

When it was puking fluid, were you backing your trailer by chance? Seems to happen to guys backing a load up a hill, trans pukes. Refill it and it will be fine.

As far as the TC rattling, is your 99 and early or a late model? The E99 converters rattle. Some more than others but they are absolutely louder than the later models.
