99 7.3 hard shifting....

I was at a dealership today, looking for a new farm truck cuz my 460 is costing me way to much in gas i test drove a 99 reg. cab long box it shifts hard into most gears. i heard that there trannys are electronic shift and you can plug them into a computer and change the shift points.. Is this true?

You can tune them, but if there's an issue, that's just gonna mask it.
You sure it's not tuned or has a valve body or shift kit? Honestly, harder shifting is better. Firm, quick shifts reduce clutch slippage and that means less heat/wear.
