I put a new Motorcraft clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing in my 2001 F250. Prior to replacement, the clutch was stiff to depress, and it shifted like clockwork. Now, with the new kit, the clutch depresses too easy, in my opinion, and the gears rake slightly between gears with the clutch fully depressd. It takes the fun out of driving it.
Any ideas as to what is causing it? Thanks for any help!! |

Hey man, I haven't had any luck at all. It seemed like the classic "air in the system" you'd expect with this kind of thing, and I was hoping it would work itself out. Now months later, there has been little, if any, improvement. I guess it's a closed system, and if the culprit is indeed air, there is nowhere for it to go. I've asked around quite a bit and no one has any good recommendations. I even had a mechanic take a look at it, and he didn't have any answers. If you figure anything out, please let me know. Sure wish it shifted like it used to...

Yeah man. My clutch use to be stiff and now its mushy. It is a completely closed system and my dot3 brake fluid was still full. I got a New flywheel coming cause mine is also making a whining noisewhen the clutch starts to engage, mainly in 1 2 3 and 5 gear, not bad in 4. When I originally pulled the engine my pilot bearing was in a million pieces. I got another bearing incase this new one is shredded already. If this doesn't fixit the only thing lefft is the hydraulic system.
