4r100 drops in neutral

Ok. My transmission is acting up. Fluid is nice and pink, no burnt smell, but it is wanting to drop into neutral when in 3rd or OD. It does it when cruising at 50-70 and I let of the throttle. I know it goes to neutral because RPM's go to idle 750? If I pat the throttle it will kick back in. Any thoughts?

yes, it will drive and shift normal as I accelerate up to 75mph. if I back off the throttle and get below 70 it will drop into neutral or it appears to be neutral as the rpm's drop to 750. if it stayed in gear the Tom's should only drop as speed decreases. I don't know much about transmissions, but want to learn and fix it myself. since it shifts normal up to 75 I think the transmission if fine and this has to be something simple. I was thinking of getting a trans go tugger kit, won't that replace all the possibilities with solenoids and springs?

Took it by AAMCO today. It had a code P0733. They said my 3rd gear sprag must be worn out. Said something also about a coast something? Anyway he said it was and internal issue and he could fix the one issue, or rebuild it for 2800-3000. What do you think?

looks like I will be replacing the transmission. I can get on from Ford $2800.00 with 3 year unlimited mile warranty, for me that's 150,000 miles. Anybody had any luck we these, according to the service manager I spoke to today, Ford made a lot upgrades to these remained units. thanks for any advise!

in the end they are still 4r100s.

thats 2800 after core. you have to give em your old trans. but then cost to install it on top of that will add up to over 3k.

i already asked about that some years ago.

Was that the only code?
That P0733 is gear 3 incorrect ratio. Possible causes: Mechanical/hydraulic failure, 4x4 switch failure
