zf 6 grinding between 2 and 3 help!

hey guys got a 2003 7.3 with 6 speed with 172k on it and when i shift from 2 to 3 i have to pause for at least a second or it will grind a lot and if you shift fast it's really bad also hard to get into second to take off. im guessing it is the sycronizer has anybody done work on these or know any body in southern indiana that works on these? all help is appriciated thanks

Assuming the pilot bushing in the flywheel isn't keeping the tranny input shaft spinning, it's probably the syncro's, as you mentioned.
