'01 PSD w/ auto holds first gear sometimes

I already did a search on this and found no thread with my exact issue. I have a 2001 F-250 auto with 83k miles. Every now and then (maybe once every 2 weeks) my truck will hold first gear while accelerating and won't shift into second until I back off the throttle. It will only do it for 2 or 3 stop lights, then it goes back to normal. Im confused because this occurs very infrequently and at random. It seems to have nothing to do with the tranny being hot because last month I drove the truck 750 miles towing a 5,000 pound trailer and it didn't do it all. It literally only happens maybe twice a month, it only lasts for two or three stop lights then it goes away. Im hoping it's just a tranny flush....my fluid doesn't look terrible, but it could use replacement. Other than this issue, it shifts perfectly and has no other problems. Any thoughts?

I had this same problem. Would do it from 2-3 too... I bought a BTS valve body (and a TS chip) and haven't had the problem since installing both a couple months ago. It may have been the chip... But I truly think it was the BTS valve body that solved it... $225 +core from Brian's Truck Shop. Do it, you won't regret it!
