Transmission rebuild

So I know this is kind of a touchy subject but I think Im in need of a rebuild on the slush box. So instead of dropping the $4500 for a John Wood or BTS or ATS tranny I thought I would build my own with an ATS converter, suncoast clutches with the updated coast clutch drum a transgo tugger shift kit a BTS valve body and mag hytec pan so instead of going with one I thought I would go with some of all three and in keeping in spirit with the forum I thought I would build it myself but Im open to suggestions

Go for it. Make sure you do the machined center support. I would skip the mag hytec pan and instead do the 6.0 cooler. Also don't need the bts valve body if you do the complete tugger kit. It fixes the valve body already. Get the ATSG manual.

I'd get a DYI kit from John Wood..all the parts will work together and with known results.

BTS or JW valve body will be better than a DYI tugger kit as they will adjust it for your build and HP.

The tugger kit is what they use and a BTS or JW will not be better than your install. A little common since is all you need and the ability to read directions. JW's kit might be good but his price is way too high. Do some searches and you'll find what you need.

The list of parts I have gathered is just a touch over $3000 and thats an ATS TCC, suncoast rebuild kit, suncoast coast clutch, suncoast center support, tugger shift kit and mag hytec pan, I like do things myself and I have succesfully rebuilt rockwell 10 spds and an allison 1000, so I think I can handle this little guy and the manual from ATSG is sweet along with all data
