Shift Solenoid 3 Not reading using AE Scanner.

The pcm has 3 to read out. 1,2,3. and values of 0 and 1.

When in first, shift solenoid 1 has the value 1 and shift solenoid 2 and 3 are off. shift into second and shift solenoid 1 and 2 read value of 1 and shift solenoid 3 is off still. hit third gear and shift solenoid 1 goes back to 0, shift solenoid 2 is still reading value of 1, but shift solenoid 3 still reads 0. then fourth comes and tc locks. shift solenoid 2 goes to a value of 0 and shift solenoid 3 still doesn't read anything....still.

Why is there a reading for shift solenoid 3 if I don't get anything from it.

I decided to try reverse. hit the gas and shift solenoid 1 is lit and stays lit. 2 and 3 do not light up.

I'm lost on why I have a third shift solenoid if it doesn't get used or why is it not reporting back to me.

There is no shift solenoid 3. Shift solenoid A and B, TCC solenoid, Coast Clutch solenoid, EPC solenoid, TFT sensorr.

That makes sense then. But why would the pcm put a reading out for it then? Or AE?

I dont know. I think maybe AE has a place to detect a third.

Ok then thats good. I was getting concerned that something wasn't working in the trans.

That's probably a*e's way of id'ing the coas cl solenoid. Put the trans in gear, then press the od cancel button. That solenoid should now show on...

i was using the tc lock here and there and od off. never saw it come on. the sensor for the off light did work tho when it was flashing from the tc error.

What codes did you pull? Whats wrong with the tranny?

the P0743....Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Electrical

that was the only trans code i had. but that comes from my manual tc lock i have which causes the off light to blink when locked.

whats wrong? nothing really. I have been trying to track down mpgs issues and was told to look at the trans now. but it doesnt slip really so i think the trans is ok at this point.
