4 bolt vs. 6 bolt torque converter
I recently acquired a 1999 PSD with a slipping transmission. The transmission had been rebuilt 15k miles ago and a new torque converter was installed.
I got a used 4r100 from a 2000 PSD to replace it. Both are 4wd.
While taking out the old transmission I noticed that there are 6 bolts holding the torque converter to the flywheel. The used transmission I got came with a torque converter and it only has 4 bolts.
So now I'm trying to figure out if I should use the 6 bolt TC or the 4 bolt TC. Will the 4 bolt TC even match up with the holes in the flywheel?
I haven't found any metal particles in the fluid or pan so I figure I could use the 6 bolt.
What do you all think?
