Gear Shift Problems

I tried searching and havent been able to find anything but on my 01 with the 6-speed transmission I seem to have a problem. When I try to use reverse or low the shifter is over against my leg, and after driving similar trucks the shifter does not come nearly as far over. Is there any adjustment for the shifter or possibly something wore out and when in OD it is almost touching the cup holders.

Thanks for the reply, I actually found the problem yesterday, I took the shifter out and it had a crack and was bent where it bolted on behind the boot.
