stumped

ok so i went down to the shop to pick up my truck and it wont go into gear. no forward or reverse. i rebuilt the motor last march and the truck has been at the shop for 6 months. anyways i tried to spin the drive-line while in neutral and it doesnt want to go. any clues???? all suggestions are welcome

That happened to me in one of my old trucks when the pin holding the spider gears snaped and was binding in the case. But that should allow you to get some rotation. drop the drive shaft and you can isolate it to the rear if the problem lies there or it could be in the trans

Well I pulled into my driveway put it in park went to back up and that was all she wrote. Trans gone. My friend a Ford mechanic came over said I was scr----. at which time we pulled it out into the road and towed it home. It made it 183000 miles on the transmission which he told me was 40k better then what they see at the dealership. 1800 bucks later for rebuild up and running fine. Minus it needs new glow plugs which will be done soon.

I know this is going to sound stupid check the oil level and when was the last time you change it believe it or not old oil or not enough oil will make the truck do all sorts of crazy things. First hand knowledge.
