4r100 to e4od
I have a 2001 4r100 4x4 with 409k original miles on it, I came across a rebuilt 1994 e4od 4x4 tranny cheap, I understand they will bolt up and I think the computer will work . It cant be that easy where am I missing the hard part.
or will it be just that easy of a swap? |

The 4R100 has two sensors (TSS and OSS) on the top of the case that the E4OD does not have. So the E4OD will not work.

Fordnutz is right . Without those 2 sensors, the trans will not shift.

thanks, I will let it go and get a 4r100, one question though, a 2wd 4r100 with a factory driveline park brake, is that the same as a 4wd tranny as far as output shaft length. I realize i will probably need to change the tail housing?

Output shaft lengths are different. The 4X4 is shorter and tale housing is also shorter. It can be changed. You will need to tear the transmission all the way down to make the change.

thanks, one last question, is here a differance between said 4r100 with driveline brake and a plain 2wd 4r100

4r100 with brake and 2wd are definantly different.
I think fordnutz is right. This best i can remember, one of the shafts is about 3/4 inch shorter that the other. Just enough to be different. The Wizards of Dearborn. Sometimes I think those guys are idiots. |

true, I got all maint records with truck from same dealer since new, 409k original engine two rebuilt injectors, 4r100 original tranny, dealer installed new torq converter at 170k due to a leak but no tranny work, original turbo still tight a little beat on the compressor wheel but still tight. three IDM's three Cam sensors, two valve cover sets, whole bunch of oil changes. truck runs rough when cold after warm up it runs a-1, I had to put an injector in #1 and all glow plugs, and a starter, it started at 13 degrees yesterday not plugged in, rough but it started. did a compression test, high 380 low 335, still withn ford specs but at the bottom of the specs.
2001 f-250 super cab 8 foot bed xlt 7.3 psd 4x4 4r100 bought it for 1400 cash not too bad runs and shifts good, but probably on borrowed time, got a spare 2003 e-series engine just in case |
