Is my TC bad or did I loose 4th gear??
4r100
I start off in 1st it shifts to 2nd then shifts to 3rd... After that at 42mph something happends and I do not know if the next "SHIFT" or change is the TC unlocking in 3rd or is it shifting to 4th gear??? After that there is supposed to be one last "SHIFT" or change, But I lost that last shift. My question is... is the "CHNAGE" when I am in 3rd going to 4th at 42mph then shift to 4th and I lost my TC unlocking at 46mph like it used to? Or is the "CHANGE" after 3rd gear the unlocking of the TC and I lost the 4th gear shift after that? But when I run the truck with the OD off. The truck shifts 1 2 3 and it is fine. Got 316,000 Any help will be great |

Just pulled code p0741
|
|

|
P0741 = excessive TCC slippage or no operation. TCC solenoid might be bad or TCC clutch is bad. Also look at BOO switch and sometimes ECT.

I would say the TC is shot because....... It slowly started going out to the point where at the end, It shifted out of being unlocked to locked. And the problem started and got worst. Unless you think a solonoid could start going bad and get worse? I thought solonoids just went out and that was it.
I did not tell you that earlier when I was describing the problem |

Theres 4 gears in these transmissions and one reverse gear.
R,1,2,3,4 With the od off, its only gonna shift into the first 3 gears and the tc is unlocked. Only locks in 4th gear. One retarded design from Ford. Anyway, If it wont lock, tc might be bad, |

With my truck, 1-2-3 and sometimes TC locks real close to fourth, or after fourth, and it sometimes feels like a double shift around 37 unless 'Im into it hard then they stretch out. I have the ON/OFF Transgo valve in my pump so lock-up fels like another shift. I don't have any tunes to seperate them out.

The coast clutch drum stops turning when the trans shifts into OD. That is read by the sensor in top of the trans up front. So my guess would be if it were an OD problem, the computer would have detected that.
