Overdrive makes a clanging noise
Is something is going wrong. When driving under normal conditions the truck/trans makes a clanging noise (Like a bunch of marbles in a bucket) when the torque converter locks.. It does not seem to slip or shudder when this happens but under nomal accel and when pulling a trailer it seems to make this noise. Trans shifts fine other then that and fluid is cherry red. Has anyone heard of this and is this something thats going bad. The truck has 103000 miles on it and the torque converter has been replaced approx 8-10000 miles ago and this just started. The OD light is not flashing. I'm just trying to head off any problem before they start
Thanks for any help or suggestion |

Did this just start happening? Look at your TC bolts and make sure they are tight. Look at you flywhell and make sure it isn't cracked. Just some ideas for you.

Yea!! about 2-weeks ago. Seems to be getting worst Did remove the torque converter cover and looked at the flywheel - no crarks seems bolts are tight on torque converter. Check the exhaust looks like it's not hitting anything. Noise only happens when torque converter locks and sound like it's coming from around the transmission area. whether its related or not I don't know. Hoping somebody has heard of this before and knows what it is and a cure for it.
