tranny problem

was wondering if anyone ever had this problem. i was driving my truck home from the races and was pulling a buddys camper. was tryin to turn the overdrive off but the light on my shifter just kept blinking. was driving fine and then about ten miles from home it wont go past 3 gear. but the light on the shifter stopped blinking now. just wondering if anyone has heard that before because the tranny was never acting up before and i dont see why it would just start doing this. its an 02 with an automatic. thanks

you need to have the trans codes pulled. The OD light acts as the check engine light for the trans. Maybe something as simple as a speed sensor or tq converter...

ok..so i guess ill just take it to a shop and they can tell me whats up? only thing is now the tranny wont shift but the od light stays on n i can turn it off now. i just hoping that even if i do take it to a shop and its a simple fix that they dont try and get me for a new tranny.

any reputable tranny shop should be able to pull the codes. Auto Zone and others that offer code readings cant do it. Good Luck to ya, hope its a simple fix!

took the truck to work today and it shifted this time. something still doesnt feel right seems like its shifting at different times. but im still going to take it over to a shop and get a scan on it.

ok so hooked up my dads scanner tonight and it wouldnt read anything...it kept saying to plug scanner into vehicle but the scanner would work on the jeep. also it seems to be when my tranny gets hot it starts to slip a little. im thinking im prob looking at a rebuild. probably going to drop it off at a shop tomorrow to let them look at it.
