Wierd Shifter Issue
I have a tranny that makes a funny noise when selecting what gear you want to go it. Its kinda like a buzzing sound and it actually dims the lights when you shift it. Could it be a solenoid issue? The truck is a 99.5. It has no other issue the truck shifts great no slipping or anything just a wierd noise when selecting what gear to go into and it doesnt do it everytime.
Any ideas? |

well I found out is not a solenoid issue. The starter was actually engaging when you would shift the truck into reverse. Apparently the back up light circuit is shorting out in the shifter position module thats on the side of the transmission and backfeeding the starter circuit. I found you could actually start the truck by putting it in the run position and just putting the truck into reverse. Anybody have a part # for this module?

just incase someone else runs into this problem it was the shifter position module on the transmission causing the problem. Got a new one off ebay and the problem is solved.
