Couple of Tranny questions?

I have a early 99 4x4 F250 with an auto tranny. It was supposed to be a new remanufactured tranny when I bought the truck and it does shift nice right now but I have no paperwork to prove it.

1)How do I tell what tranny I really have? I am under the impression there are two different ones?

2) Is there any thing right off the get go that I should do to make this tranny last longer.I already installed a larger cooler with a temp fan for it.

3)Will the tranny out of a 2wd work for my 4x4? I know some auto trannys can have the tail shaft housing unbolted and bolt back the trans-fer case.

4) I am interested in trying the TC lock up switch. Any thing negative about this?

I can't afford the BTS that I would love to have but was very interested in the BTS upgraded VB for mine. So I am looking for a donor tranny for good core parts to keep mine up and running while waiting on new parts. Thanks for any and all help.

You have a 4R100. The tranny, 7.3 4R100, from a 2x will work but you have to tear it all the way down and change the output shaft and tail housing to the 4x4 outpit shaft and housing. The cooler is one of the best upgrades you have done so far.
