tranny cooler upgrade

I need to upgrade my tranny cooler. Alot of people say to install a 6.0 cooler but is that the best thing to do? Who's got an aftermarket one and where did you get it? Was it a kit or did you put it together yourself? You know how it is, everyone says they have the best solution. I want some real world testimonial. Info appreciated.

Try the 45k lb tru cool from the diesel site. It is plenty big enough and alot cheaper than 6.0 cooler.

Tru cool is a nice cooler..about the same as the V10 cooler. The 6.0 cooler is more $$ but its 2x's as big and what BTS recommends

Twice as big doesn't cool twice as much and you plain don't need it.

BUY 6.0L COOLER!! one of the best mods i have ever done. In the winter my trans temp does not even move off 100 degrees pulling a trailer. In the middle of summer 110 degrees pulling a triple axle gooseneck and my truck on 37s with stock gears I never see above 180 degrees.

Theres Ebay. Thats where I got mine way cheaper 26 row.

And in Texas when its over 100* F towing my trailer, flooring the truck to make it up a hill....and still doesn't get above 170*F...I'll say It's totally worth it man.

And I used to hit 200 easily on the last cooler.

Send a message via AIM to dereku
with a 6oh I never seen over 100 degrees. If my engine was running good. It started missing and I seen 165-180 on 100degree days.

And BTS recommends it for a reason. The v10 cooler or ttrucool 45k which are the same exact coolers btw. Clog like the factory 7.3 ones do. That is wy ford redesigned the 6oh coolers.

derek, I don't know that the 7.3 coolers have or had a plugging issue and that Ford's purpose for the 6.0 cooler was to solve this problem. Depending on who you ask, the bypass was supposed to take care of this not the 6.0 cooler. Ford's purpose in my opinion for the 6.0 cooler (overkill) was to address a inferior cooling system design from the previous years. If you notice over the years the cooling system designs have changed. With that being said, for the money, the Tru-cool is more than enough for cooling.
