Help to decide trans options
He guys Im new to the site and Ive looking around for trans help. I have an early 99 and my trans just went out. My question is what should i do, just rebuild it with stock parts or are there better clutches i should buy? Who makes a good tc that is cheap. I dont have a lot of money so im possibly going to attempt the rebiuld myself. Ive done a ton of searches and all i find is bts and ats trans are awesome but i need to know where to get quality rebuild parts for a good deal. Also what else would improve my trans, valve body, shift controllers,etc. Thanks for any assistance.

Best option is get a tow master kit from John Wood..only trans expert that has a kit.

He's not the only one that sales a kit! Suncoast has them so does Racer X and several others. Way less thatn 2400 bucks!

IMO he's the only expert that has a kit..not a parts seller a real trans builder who's knows how to build a trans that can take it..FYI I don't sell his kits. Pick up the phone and ask him about his kits and at the same time ask him about other parts sellers.

A kit is a kit, wheather he turns down pressure plates and sends clutches, shift kit and gaskets or not. I don't need to ask him anything I know what he does. I have been a trans tech for several years!

I didn't realize you had such a close relationship with John...I've known him for years and he still has secrets on what all he does. But your a tech and probably know it all anyway.

my apologies to the OP, and to CTPerformance for mucking up the thread.
but when someone calls a sponsor/vendor a bull sheet artist, I just have to call a spade a spade, thats all. fwiw, and back on topic, I had my tranny rebuilt by a friend of mine, he used extra discs, kolene I think in all the gears, a fully built valve body, and a triple disc billet convertor, along with a few 300m shafts here and there, as well as a 6.0 tranny cooler.... ![]() its been behind a 450hp (to the rear wheels) motor for over 3 years with no problems. so those are some parts you might want to consider in your build. I dont know about "kits" but I can imagine that some folks will send you a "kit" thats not really what the "GOOD BUILDERS" use, like WOODS or BTS... carry on... |
