99 Ford F250 Transmission cost???

Looking at a 99 ford f250 with 170000 miles on it. They say the transmission(Automatic) is going on it. How much would it cost to replace it.
I am new to fords, what transmission did they put in the 99?

4R100. Reman from ford is like 3k i think, lots of people build them for around that much and if you wanna never look back get a john woods or BTS tranny.. not cheap but indestructible.

There is no such thing as a unbreakable transmission. You have a 4r100. Some yoyo's on here will tell you that BTS and Woods are the only ones that can build these trannies and make them last. Not true! These guys need helmets wherever they go.

Mine was $3400 including new amsoil fluid. But ebay has some for $900-1500 bucks with 1-2 year and 12k-36k mile warranties that will get it moving atleast. Then again that is if you can install it yourself.
