torque converter noise

Hi guys, i have a 01 350 4x4. i have had the transmission rebuilt with a transgo shift kit and a billet bottom torque converter(he says). My issue is since i got it back awhile ago(warranty up) it has always been shiftin into overdrive hard, i figured it was my edge evoluation.... But starting friday it was lacking power and making a whining noise, overheating transmission also. I diagnosed it as converter noise.
My question is what should i do for a new converter, just a heavy duty non billet, or bigger. I use the truck for snowplowing in the winter and i was advised against a triple disk for that. so i am looking for some ideas what you would reccomend.
