Trans is completely gone

This sucks being one of my first posts but my 4r100 went out yesterday on my way home . I was accelerating 30mph to 55mph in my 120hp race setting from DP when my trans gave out and I coasted to the side of the road. It didnt sound bad I just heard a thump and lost all power, none of my gears work and my reverse doesnt engage either. I looked under my truck and there isnt any fluid or anything so i figured it might be either my TC or maybe my input shaft, what do you guys think? I never tow more than 6,000lbs and use it as a DD 95% of the time, PS: trans temp was normal

I'd guess TC. That would have been good work to bust the imput shaft. Would have made alot more noise also. In my experience if it is the shaft you will get a constant grinding noise.

OD planet, meaning the planetary gear set? My truck did the exact same thing as dieselburner's.... I've checked everything. No metal in pan, fluid is good. changed it again for s&g... even taken the valve bodies off and check everything. Even have good pressure from the pump. Next up, tranny removal & further inspection. Anyone have any other ideas?

Power flow; turbine-input shaft-od planet-od ring gear-intermediate shaft-forward drum. A loud thump= no movement in any direction something broke.

Looks like you will need a good buddy to haul you to Lead Hill, AR. My appt is
Dec 3rd. Trans slips when towing, not nearly as bad as yours.

The 4r100 is the weak point in our trucks. Do it right and build the trans and if you can get a John Woods trans. It is well worth the price you pay. The billet triple disk TQ makes a huge difference too. There are a number of othere things to be done as simple upgrades like the pump kit the valve body and a better planet.
