I have a 200 f250 that will not shift out of low unless you let off the throttle. You have to run the rpms up to above 2500 and let off and then it will shift.. it shifts fine through every other gear? any one have any ideas?

A sprag is a one way roller clutch that allows a drum or part to overrun in one direction and lock in the other. You need to check for codes, ect...

I am having the exact same problem with my '99 f250. you should have the 4r100, just like I do. my current trans only has 4k miles on it. (ford warranty replacement). the previous one did the exact same thing @ 8k miles. (ford reman that cost $2400). if someone here has any help for this guy and me please post it up!!!

-even though i'm shucking the auto and doing a manual swap....i'd still like to know.

Intermediate sprag is broken.

The truck is performing a 1-3 shift.

Full-throttle upshifts from 1st to 2nd will get you every time.
